For many lone parents, the journey through pregnancy and parenthood brings not only the usual worries and challenges but also a host of additional difficulties, including feelings of isolation and the stigma often associated with raising a child alone. Small Talk recognises these unique challenges and understands the profound difference that peer support groups and intervention can make for families navigating these circumstances.

Small Talk is a suite of projects designed to assist those who were most adversely affected by the pandemic. Among these groups, lone parents stand out as particularly vulnerable, facing increased pressure and isolation during an already difficult time. Peer support groups offer a vital network for lone parents, providing a space to share experiences, seek advice, and find camaraderie among those who understand their situation. These groups help break the cycle of isolation, fostering a sense of community and belonging that is crucial for mental and emotional well-being. Support for families can prevent many of the long-term difficulties associated with lone parenthood.
